opinionated, opinionative

opinionated, opinionative
These words are commonly used as synonyms, each meaning "obstinate," "dogmatic," "fixed in one's beliefs," "stubborn": "Don't call me opinionated (or opinionative) just because I am correct in my attitude." A distinction is sometimes made by careful writers: opinionated is used to convey the senses mentioned above; opinionative is employed to refer to matters of opinion, usually in the sense of "hypothetical" or "assumed": "You seem to have reached an entirely opinionative conclusion." In most instances, use opinionated and forget about opinionative.
